Class Concept

Under supervision of a registered nurse (for example, a Clinical Nurse), incumbents perform both professional and sub-professional nursing functions; and perform other related dutes as required.

Senior Nursing Aids assist with therapeutic procedures including administration of medications, application of dressings, and application of physical therapeutic agents; assist in the instruction of patients in self care and in measures of recovery and rehabilitation; assist patients with personal hygiene and physical care; observe changes in patients’ conditions and notify the supervising registered nurse; may assist doctors with diagnostic examinations and measurements; and act as members of the nursing team.

Minimum Qualifications

Completion of three years of a four-year accredited nursing school curriculum leading to a baccalaureate degree in nursing; and knowledges and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
