Series Concept

Anesthesia Technicians are responsible for maintaining all anesthesia service areas in readiness for use by Anesthesiologist and Anesthetists. Incumbents are responsible for anesthesia equipment and supplies; work independently and be able to make decisions and set priorities with some guidance; responsible for knowledge of and compliance with all applicable infection control, health and safety policies and procedures as implemented by the institution; may assist Anesthesiologists with patient positioning, preparation of sterile fields, placement of invasive monitoring lines, application of regional, epidural and spinal anesthesia techniques, invasive and noninvasive procedure setups, or perform anclJor record cardiac output determinations.

Anesthesia Technician – Supervisor

Under general supervisor, incumbents perform supervisory responsibilities over a group of Anesthesia Technicians to including selection, training, work assignments, evaluating performance levels, and recommending personnel actions.

Anesthesia Technician

Under general supervisor, incumbents perform the full range of duties as outlined in the series concept.

Anesthesia Technician II

Under general supervision, incumbents perform the full range of duties as outlined in the series concept in addition to the more complex and specialty cases. In addition, but not limited to, the incumbents may be responsible for training other technicians; assembling sterile components necessary for procedures; performing quality control on specific equipment; performing laboratory tests such as blood gases (ABG), hematocrit (HCT), activated coagulation times (ACT), etc.; setting up calibrating equipment; as well as performing preventative maintenance and simple mechanical repairs.

Anesthesia Technician II – Per Diem

Under general supervision, incumbents perform the full range of duties as outlined in the Anesthesia Technician II level but on as an needed basis.

Applicants and incumbents are expected to possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to the successful performance of duties assigned to this position.

Note: Specific qualification requirements are approved for positions by the Human Resources Manager.

Salary Ranges

Anesthesia Technician-Supervisor: Min – $21.26, Mid – $28.71, Max – $36.16
Anesthesia Technician: Min – $20.10, Mid – $23.12, Max – $26.13
Anesthesia Technician II: Min – $20.94, Mid – $24.08, Max – $27.22
Anesthesia Technician II-Per Diem: $23.07

Ancillary Pay (for all levels)

Evening Shift – $1.20, Night Shift – $2.00, Weekend – $1.40, On-Call – $7.00
