Class Concept

Under direction, Transit Maintenance Managers plan, organize and implement a program of vehicle maintenance inspection and repair scheduling for a Transit Coach system; establish requirements; procure, maintain and inventory parts and supplies; perform scheduled and unscheduled inspection and repair of Transit Coach systems and components; prepare reports; attend staff and operations meetings; assign, supervise and inspect the work of other mechanics; analyze expense reports, vehicle performance records and other operating records to detennine operational effectiveness; make recorrnnendations on equipment purchase, sale and disposal; and perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school and five years of experience with a Transit System and/or Transit Coach repair firm, with work experience in performing maintenance inspections, malfunction diagnosis and repair of basic transit coach components; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledges and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position. Technical courses and/or manufacturer training courses may be substituted for two years of employment experience.
