Series Concept
Carpenters maintain in good repair buildings, woodwork and equipm~nt including but not limited to counters, benches, partitions, doors, floors, stairs, casings, forms, and trim made of wood; and lay out work from blueprints, drawings, models or verbal instructions; use a variety of carpenter’ 1 ‘s hand or power tools, and measuring instruments; make shop computations relating to dimensions and fabrication of work; and select materials.
Class Concepts
Carpenter Leadworker
Under general supervision, incumbents serve as working leaders of a small crew nf carpenters on assigned maintenance and repair or incidental construction projects or serve as assistants to a supervisor for a group of carpenters. Incumbents typically perform the work of a journey level maintenance carpenter in addition to transmitting orders, explaining tasks to workers, estimating, and maintaining time and material records.

Under supervision, incumbents perform the full range of duties as outlined in the series concept.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants for positions in the carpenter series are expected to possess.the skills~ knowledge, and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
Note: Specific qualification requirements are approved for positions by the Personnel Manager in accordance with the provisions of Staff Personnel Policies 210.8 and 210.9.
