Series Concept
Electricians perform a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution or utilization of electric energy; install or repair a variety of electrical equipment including but not limited to generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment; work from blueprints, drawings, layout or specifications; locate and diagnose trouble in electrical systems or equipment; and make standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment using a variety of electrician’s tools and measuring and testing instruments.
Class Concepts
Electrician Leadworker
Under general supervision, incumbents serve as working leaders of a small crew of electricians on assigned maintenance and repair on incidental construction projects or serve as assistants to a supervisor for a group of electricians. Incumbents typically perform the work of a journey level maintenance electrician in addition to transmitting orders, explaining tasks to workers, estimating and maintainingtime and material records.

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants for positions in the Electrician series are expected to possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
Note: Specific qualification requirements are approved for positions by the Personnel Manager in accordance with the provisions of Staff Personnel Policies 210.8 and 210.9.
