Series Concept
Plumber-pipefitters install or repair water, gas, waste or other types of pipe and pipe fittings, valves, fixtures and other related plumbing equipment; lay out work; measure to locate positions of pipe from drawings or other written specifications; cut, thread, bend,assemble and fasten pipe; make computations relating to pressure, flow, and size of pipe required; test to determine whether finished pipe meets soecifications; and keep plumbing systems in good working order.
Class Concepts
Plumber-Pipefitter Leadworker
Under general supervision, incumbents serve as working leaders of a small crew of plumber-pipefitters on assigned maintenance and repair or incidental construction projects or serve as assistant to a supervisor for a group of plumber-pipefitters. Incumbents typically perfom the work of a journey level maintenance plumber-pipefitter in addition to transmtting orders, explaining tasks to workers, estimating and maintaining time and material records.

Under supervisidn incumbents perform the full range of duties as outlined in the series concept.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants for positions in the Pluinber-Pipefitter series are expected to posses the skills, knowledges, and abilities essential to the successful perfonnance of the duties assigned to the position.
