Series Concept

Head Linen Service Workers perform as supervisors or work leaders in a campus laundry or related linen service unit; and perform other related duties as required.

Incumbents typically schedule, assign and coordinate the work of one or more incumbents in the following classes: Linen Service Worker, Laundry Machine Operator, Laundry Rotary Press Operator, Drapery Maker; train and evaluate personnel working in one or more phases of a laundry or related linen service unit; and perform skilled tasks in limited operational areas of a laundry or related linen service unit.

Classes in the Head linen Service Worker series are distinguished from classes in the Linen Service Supervisor series in that Head Linen Service Workers perform as supervisors or work leaders in limited operational areas. Linen Service Supervisors coordinate the work of several operational areas and typically have responsibility for an entire work shift.

The series consists of two levels. Head Linen Service Worker is the working leader level, and Senior Head Linen Service Worker is the full supervisory level.
