SERIES CONCEPT

The Practice Coordinator performs the full scope of administrative support duties in an outpatient practice.  The PC works closely with the administrative, clinical and management teams to support practice operations, customer service recovery and intervention efforts. 

LASS CONCEPTS

Practice Coordinator 1

The Practice Coordinator 1 is responsible for new patient scheduling and processing; revenue cycle, including, but not limited to performing cash collection and depositing functions, obtaining  insurance authorizations, and securing authorizations;  front desk check in; patient care coordination duties, including, but not limited to scheduling  and coordinating patient appointments and discussing practice policies and procedures with patients and referring physicians;  responding to telephone calls and documenting as appropriate; entering in applicable patient referral, telephone encounter, and patient letter into online system; general clinic duties, including, but not limited to pulling and preparing charts, filing and tracking patient information, scanning patient records and documents.

Practice Coordinator 2

Performs all functions of Practice Coordinator 1 and coordinates scheduling of outpatient- and inpatient surgeries for the surgical practice; has more advanced responsibility for scheduling functions in online system.

Practice Coordinator 3

Performs all functions of Practice Coordinator 3 and is responsible for advanced new patient scheduling and coordination, including, but not limited to securing outside medical records, reviewing for completeness and making determination as to which physician can best evaluate patient; understands and is able to prioritize new patient scheduling based on diagnosis and current treatment status to ensure complex patients are scheduled according to practice priorities; informs patients about possible treatment scheduling options, clinical trials and screening is coordinated with appropriate research personnel and the appropriate physician;

at new patient visits, as appropriate meets with patient after the visit to explain how care is coordinated with possible clinical trials, testing, surgical procedures and care within other departments (e.g. general surgery, cardiology) and with other external providers.  Performs advanced duties related to surgery scheduling, revenue cycle, front desk check in and patient care coordination.  May act as a team lead.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Practice Coordinator 1

  • High School graduate or equivalent with two years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  

Practice Coordinator 2

  • High School graduate or equivalent with four years related experience; or college degree and 6 months related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  

Practice Coordinator 3

  • High School graduate or equivalent with four years related experience; or college degree and 6 months related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
