While UC’s costs for dental and vision plans will increase in 2025, UC continues to pay the full cost of dental and vision coverage for employees and their eligible dependents, with no changes to benefits. Learn more about UC-paid coverage and extra options to protect you and your family.
What’s changing
Premiums for non-medical plans are staying the same this year, with enhanced benefits for legal, accident, critical illness and hospital indemnity insurance.
2025 enhancements
- The benefit for a physician’s office visit related to a covered accident is increasing from $75 to $100
- New $1,200 benefit for admission to the ICU
- Benefits for up to ten ICU or non-ICU hospital stays (up from three stays in 2024)
- New Chiropractic or alternative therapy benefit of $50 per day
- New $950 sacrum fracture benefit
- Outpatient surgery and anesthesia benefit increasing from $500 to $700
- The benefit for mammography is increasing from $100 to $200
- Coverage for childhood conditions is increasing to add 100% coverage for Type 1 diabetes and PKU and a $3,000 benefit for autism
- Wellness benefits are increasing to add a $100 benefit per calendar year for cytological, DNA stool analysis, HIV – Nucleic Acid Test and spiral CT screening
- New 100% coverage of cardiac arrest
- Benefit for a recurring covered condition allowed 90 days (reduced from six months) after prior benefit payments
- New $100 mammography benefit
- New $1,200 benefit for admission to the ICU
- Benefits for up to ten hospital admissions, hospital stays or ICU stays per calendar year (increased from five per calendar year)
- New Intermediate ICU Step-Down Unit benefit of $100 per each 18-hour period of confinement
Identity theft protection will be enhanced to:
- Add cash recovery associated with restoring identity
- Add up to four senior family members for identity theft monitoring services, full-service identity restoration, lost wallet services and identity theft insurance
Dental
Choose a Delta Dental DHMO plan for lower costs or a DPPO plan for more flexibility. Be sure there are dentists available in your area before enrolling in the DHMO plan.
There are no changes to dental benefits for next year.
Vision
Benefits through the Vision Service Plan (VSP) include vision exams, corrective lenses, frames (every other calendar year) and an allowance for contact lenses.
There are no changes to vision benefits for next year.
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
Save money by paying for eligible health or dependent care expenses pretax. Remember, you must re-enroll each year!

Accident, Critical Illness and Hospital Indemnity
With more benefits and no changes to costs, this is a good time to consider adding the extra protection of UC’s accident, critical illness, and/or hospital indemnity insurance.

Disability and Life
Life and disability insurance aren’t open for enrollment but you can apply at any time. Enrollment is not guaranteed. For life insurance, submit a request through UCPath. For disability insurance, submit an application to Lincoln Financial.
