While UC’s costs for dental and vision plans will increase in 2027, UC continues to pay the full premium for dental and vision coverage for employees and their eligible dependents. Learn more about UC-paid coverage and extra options to protect you and your family — including auto, home and renters insurance.
What’s changing
- Auto, home and renters insurance: Beginning in 2027, California Casualty will once again offer auto, home and renters insurance to UC employees and retirees, with exclusive rates and flexible payment options, including payroll deduction. Beginning Dec. 1, 2026, call 866-680-5142 or visit CalCas.com/UC to learn more, request a quote and start the enrollment process for coverage in 2027. You must enroll directly with California Casualty (you cannot enroll through UCPath).
- Vision: Warby Parker will join the VSP provider network, providing additional provider and eyewear options.
- Accident insurance: Cash benefits are increasing for emergency room, urgent care and doctor’s office visits.

Vision
Benefits through VSP Vision Care include vision exams, corrective lenses, frames (every other calendar year) and an allowance for contact lenses. In 2027, the extensive VSP provider network will include Warby Parker.
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
Save money by paying for eligible health or dependent care expenses pretax. Remember, you must re-enroll each year!

Accident, Critical Illness and Hospital Indemnity
Consider the extra protection of UC’s accident, critical illness, and/or hospital indemnity insurance — particularly if you’re enrolling in HealthSavings+, UC’s high-deductible health plan. These voluntary benefits can provide an added financial safety net when an unexpected accident, diagnosis, hospitalization or loss occurs.
Legal
Access to over 15,000 network attorneys nationwide to assist with legal matters like creating wills, estate planning, marriage, buying a home, and much more.
Pet insurance
Preferred pricing on pet insurance through Nationwide. Learn more and enroll anytime (not just during Open Enrollment) on the Nationwide website at petinsurance.com/uc. You must enroll directly with Nationwide (you cannot enroll through UCPath).
Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D), Disability and Life insurance
You can enroll in or make changes to your AD&D coverage in UCPath during Open Enrollment — and all year. Disability and Life insurance are not available options during Open Enrollment in UCPath. Find out how to make changes to voluntary disability and supplemental life insurance.
