Series Concept

Rehab Aides assist professional and technical personnel, such as physical or occupational therapist, or disability specialist, in the care and treatment of patients in a hospital clinic or campus environment. They assist in treatment and training, departmental or equipment maintenance, clerical duties and other activities as required. They coordinate patient and personal care with other departments.

Incumbents apply appropriate treatment and perform duties which are directly related to the oversight of patients in an in-patient or out-patient setting. Incumbents assist with patient care to meet the needs of patients and families served, and direct patient questions to the appropriate professional expert.

Incumbents administer procedures and treatments as instructed and may operate and maintain special equipment such as medical devices and therapeutic equipment. Incumbents provide assistance in patient care activities and patient education training and projects.

These classes are distinguished from the classes of Vocational Nurse or Physical Therapist Assistants in that the duties performed do not require licensure or special training, and duties are more routine in nature.
