Most employees and retirees can make all of their Open Enrollment changes online, using At Your Service Online (AYSO) or UCPath, depending on your location. Choose your location (or select "retiree") from the dropdown on the homepage to see the correct sign-in button.

If you are a retiree enrolled in Medicare and living outside California, you must use the UBEN 100 form to make changes to dental and legal coverage.

The instructions below will help you make Open Enrollment changes using UCPath. If you're enrolling through AYSO, see How to make changes using AYSO.

Before you begin

  • Disable pop-up blockers before you start the enrollment process.
  • Make sure you've set up security questions and answers in UCPath. You'll need to answer a security question to make any changes to your benefits.
  • If you're enrolling in a medical plan that requires a Primary Care Physician (PCP), make sure you have your doctor's PCP number. Go to your medical plan page for more information about your plan's providers.

Getting started

  • Select the "sign in" button above (beginning Oct. 25) and sign in with your username and password.
  • Your dashboard will show a countdown to the end of Open Enrollment. Select "enroll now" to the right of the countdown to get started.
  • After you answer a security question, you'll see the benefits enrollment page. Select "Open Enrollment" under "open benefit events" at the bottom of the page. If you have another open benefit event (for example, if you are a new hire or recently added an eligible dependent through marriage, birth or adoption), you'll need to complete that event before you begin the open enrollment process.

Making changes

In your current enrollment summary, benefit plans with an edit button (pencil icon) are open for changes. Click the button to add or change benefit enrollments.

  • Click "edit" to see your benefit plan options, and "view cost summary" to see the costs for each plan.
  • Click "select" to choose a new plan, "selected" to review your plan dependents and make dependent changes for your current plan or "waive" to decline coverage.
  • Use the "enroll" check box to select or deselect dependents for each plan. You can add new family members or edit their information by selecting "add/review family members." Note that if you remove a dependent from all benefit plans, the dependent is not deleted from UCPath.
  • Remember that you must re-enroll in your Health and/or Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) each year.
  • Select "save changes" when you complete each step.

Submitting (and resubmitting) your changes

After you enter all benefit changes, click "back" to make additional benefit plan and dependent changes or "submit" to finalize your choices. Once you've submitted your changes, there are a few more steps to complete your enrolllment:

  • Read and complete the "submit benefit choices" page and click "submit"
  • Review the Open Enrollment message and click "OK"
  • Review the "submit confirmation" message and click "OK"

The Open Enrollment event button displays "submitted" until your elections are processed. Your Open Enrollment event is reopened the following day for additional changes during the Open Enrollment period. You can make and submit Open Enrollment changes online once per day until 5:00 p.m. on November 20, 2018.

Confirming your enrollment

You can review your Open Enrollment elections in UCPath online on the Benefits Summary page after your Open Enrollment changes are finalized — usually the next business day after you submit your elections.

From the Dashboard, navigate to Employee Actions > Health and Welfare > Benefits Summary. At the top of the page, enter 01/01/2019 to see the benefits you've enrolled in for next year.

A Final Confirmation Statement is sent via email when Open Enrollment processing is completed in December 2018.
