The University of California is proposing to renew the Employee-initiated Reduction In Time (ERIT) Program, which provides the opportunity for eligible career staff (except Senior Management Group members) to voluntarily reduce their appointment percentage and corresponding pay. The program will be in effect from July 1, 2017.

ERIT is an optional tool that locations may choose to implement as a cost savings resource. At locations that choose to implement ERIT, an employee can request the department head’s approval to voluntarily reduce working time, within specific limits, from a minimum of one month to a maximum of 36 months in exchange for certain specified advantages, such as accrual of vacation and sick leave at the employees’ pre-ERIT rates.

The revised program reflecting the proposed renewal is posted at: http://ucnet.universityofcalifornia.edu/tools-and-services/administrators/programs/proposed/erit.html

Employees who wish to provide comments on the proposed revisions should check with their local Human Resources Office about how to submit comments.
