Series Concept

Light Fixture Attendants clean light fixtures, replace light bulbs and flourescent tubes during an assigned shift in one or more of the following campus divisions: Physical Plant, Hospital and Residence Halls; and perform other related duties as required.

Incumhents typically clean and/or adjust the positioning of plastic, metal, glass or other types of light fixtures; replace defective or extinguished light bulbs and/or flourescent tubes; maintain adequate stocks of light bulbs and flourescent tubes; and make verbal or written reports on defective electrical fixtures or units to supervisory personnel.

The series consists of two levels. Light Fixture Attendant is the operational level, and Senior Light Fixture Attendant is the working supervisory level.

Class Concepts

Senior Light Fixture Attendant

Under supervision, incumbents have supervisory responsibility for approximately five or more full-time-equivalent Light Fixture Attendants during an assigned shift. Incumbents typically schedule, assign and coordinate the work of one or more groups of Light Fixture Attendants; inspect light fixtures for cleanliness, upkeep, and needed replacement of light bulbs or flourescent tubes; report any required light fixture electrical repair work; and are responsible for ordering and maintaining cleaning materials, light bulbs, flourescent tubes and related supplies. Incumbents may in addition perform the range of duties outlined in the Series Concept.

Light Fixture Attendant

Under supervision, incumbents perform the range of duties outlined in the Series Concept.

Minimum Qualifications

Senior Light Fixture Attendant

Ability to read, write, perform basic arithmetic calculations and two years of custodial or related experience; or an equivalent co~bination of education and experience.

Light Fixture Attendant

Ability to read, write, follow oral and written instructions and six months of custodial or related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
