Effective July 1, 2013, faculty and other non-represented academic personnel will receive a 2 percent general salary increase, and non-represented staff employees will receive average increases of 3 percent (individual increases may vary), subject to the exclusions noted below. Details about when the increases will be reflected in paychecks will follow.

These increases, which were part of the proposed 2013-14 budget approved by the Board of Regents this past November, are intended to acknowledge the fact that non-represented employees have received only one general salary increase in the past five years. The increases also are intended to partially offset increased retirement and health benefit costs that faculty and staff have absorbed over the past few years.

The following employee groups are excluded from the 2013-14 salary program:

  • Top senior management members, including the president, chancellors, executive and senior vice presidents and other senior managers who report directly to the president; medical center chief executive officers; direct reports to the regents; certain other senior managers; and athletic coaches whose salaries are covered by multi-year contracts
  • Any staff who have had promotional or equity increases exceeding 3 percent in the past 12 months (chancellors may, at their discretion, grant exceptions to this requirement)
  • Union-represented employees
