The University of California and the California Nurses Association (CNA) met for their third bargaining session on April 30–May 2, 2013 at UCSF to continue negotiating a new contract covering more than 11,000 UC nurses.

The university continued to review and respond to CNA’s initial proposals on various contract terms, as well as present more of its initial proposals. The issues discussed included paid time off, vacations and holidays.

UC is committed to productive bargaining with CNA to reach a competitive, multi-year agreement that fairly rewards employees for their service and preserves the quality of the UC medical centers.

The university hopes to finalize a new contract before the current agreement expires June 30, 2013.

The next bargaining session is May 15-16 at UC San Diego Medical Center, where the parties will continue discussions.
